Reserve Your Room for the SHOT Annual Meeting Today
We are pleased to announce that you can start reserving rooms at the Hotel Murano, the headquarters hotel for the SHOT Annual Meeting, 30 September - 3 October 2010.
All of the sessions and events for the2010 Annual Meeting will be at the Murano. Centrally located in downtown Tacoma, the hotel is just steps away from restaurants, shopping, museums, and the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington.

A dedicated booking Website has been created for the SHOT meeting where you can make, modify and cancel their hotel reservations online,as well as take advantage of any room upgrades, amenities or other services offered by the hotel. To make reservations through the website, please click here.
You can also call the Murano directly at 1-888-862-3255 and ask for the "Society for the History of Technology Room Block" in order to get the special rate.
Special SHOT Rates
Our special SHOT conference rate is $169 per night for King Deluxe or a Double Deluxe. Triples are available from $179. Suites are also available at special rates for SHOT attendees; be sure to inquire if you wish to reserve such a room. Hotel rooms in Tacoma are taxed 14.5% plus a Pierce County Tourism Promotion Assessment (TPA) fee of $1.50 per day. The conference rates are available from Wednesday, 29 September to Monday, 4 October 2010. These rates include complementary internet service in the hotel rooms and are available until 8 September 2010 or until our room block is sold out.
Gift Card Offer
When you arrive at the Murano next fall, be sure to show them a member rewards card from any other hotel chain in order to receive a $10 "Hotel Services" Gift Card. If you are a premium member of any rewards card, you may be eligible for access to the Patron Lounge (enjoy complimentary continental breakfast in an exclusive setting) as well as room upgrades (based on availability).
Reduced Rates for Graduate Students and Independent Scholars
As in previous years, SHOT is making arrangements in Tacoma to provide some rooms at reduced rates for graduate students and independent scholars. Because these rooms can only be made available to bona fide graduate students and independent scholars, we ask that you please email Jane Carlson for further information about these rooms.
