Call for Applications: SHOT seeking Treasurer beginning January 1, 2015.
One of four elected officers of the Society, the Treasurer has responsibility for maintaining the financial records of SHOT, including those connected with its endowment funds and its annual planning and operating budgets; for monitoring its financial investments, in consultation with investment professionals and the SHOT Finance Committee; and for conducting routine financial transactions, other than those connected with membership, journal subscriptions, or the annual meeting.
Familiarity with routine financial processes and competency in Quicken accounting programming is a requisite; investment savvy is not. The Treasurer must be a member of SHOT and is expected to pay his or her own way to attend the Society’s regular annual meeting each year and to participate in the fall meeting of the SHOT Executive Council, which is held at the start of the conference. In addition, the Treasurer will need to attend a second SHOT Executive Council meeting each spring, for which SHOT pays expenses.
Candidates will be selected by an ad hoc committee appointed by SHOT President Bruce Seely and must be approved by the Executive Council at its April meeting. Search committee members include Amy Bix, Susan Horning, and Steve Usselman (chair). Francesca Bray (SHOT Vice President) and Hugh Gorman (current SHOT Treasurer) serve ex officio.
