President’s Message
Dear SHOT Members,
This Newsletter brings crucial information for us all. It lists the names of the slate of candidates for key positions in the Society, positions that make a fundamental difference to the future orientation of SHOT. Please be sure to submit your ballots as soon as possible.
The Newsletter also lists two related constitutional amendments that enlarge the scope of the Executive Council to include a representative to speak on behalf of graduate students and early career scholars. My Presidential mission statement identified this as a priority and I am grateful to Colin Garvey and Alice Clifton for helping to make this happen.
The last main item below is an outline of the program for what promises to be a wonderful 60th anniversary SHOT annual meeting in St. Louis. We have an outstanding line up beginning with a Plenary organized by Amy Bix and Jeff Schramm that appropriately discusses Kranzberg’s laws 60 years on.
I want to thank the Nominations Committee, the Program Committee, all the SHOT officers and the SHOT Secretariat for their enduring commitment and work on behalf of SHOT. I look forward to seeing many of you in St. Louis.
Sincerely yours,
SHOT President, 2017-18
