Joy Parr, 2018 da Vinci medalist, passes away

SHOT is greatly saddened by the passing of Professor Joy Parr, a luminous member of our community.

Joy Parr’s exceptional scholarship earned her many awards throughout her career, including SHOT’s 2011 Edelstein Prize for Sensing Changes:Technologies, Environments, and the Everyday, 1953-2003 (University of British Columbia Press, 2010). In 2018 SHOT awarded her the da Vinci Medal, you can find the citation here.

Please find the obituary from Professor Parr’s apartment at Queen’s University here, and a more personal one by her husband Greg Levine here.
