Welcome to the online submission portal for History of Technology in Action (HTA) sessions!
These are sessions with formats that promote interaction and opportunities available (especially in the virtual format) to engage outside of the more traditional research panel. These can include (but are not limited to) round-table sessions, workshops, sessions with pre-circulated papers, poster sessions, or screening.
- Book/Publication Panel
- This type of session focuses on recently published works (books, articles, series, special issues) and offers editors and authors an opportunity to situate their work in contemporary issues, broader trends in the history of technology, and publishing.
- Interactive Workshop (Methods/Pedagogy)
- This type of session offers the opportunity to interact and collaborate around a particular method, pedagogical approach or issue within the changing landscape of teaching and research.
- Museum/Object Session
- This type of session offers the opportunity to bring a museum object, archival document, a new exhibition, or historic landmark place into focus. It may also include a short pre-recorded gallery walk through, landmark or place-based exploration.
- Creative Format (film/sound etc.)
- This type of session offers the opportunity to present and discuss histories of technology through works on film, soundscape and other creative narrative methods. This may include a synchronous screening of a creative work (or excerpt) followed by discussion.
- Roundtable
- This type of session offers discussion on an organized theme by 3-5 participants. It should include a dedicated moderator for the dialogue. Participants can prepare short introductions to the context of their comments, but should not be delivering a presentation.
