Tenure-line Faculty – Open Rank – Science, Technology, and Society (STS) – Technoscience and Social Impact
The Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Department at Colby College invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-line appointment in Science, Technology, and Society (STS), with particular teaching and research interests in Technoscience and Social Impact, starting in the fall of 2023. We seek an experienced scholar to help shape the future of STS at Colby, and to move into the role of department chair in the near future. We are especially interested in candidates working in sociology, anthropology, and/or ethics of technoscience, with a focus on understanding how to create more diverse and inclusive cultures and outcomes both in the fields of science and technology and in their application and social impact. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research and teaching interests include race, gender, disability, and technology; sociology of technology; algorithmic bias; or race, gender, or disability in the biological sciences. The standard teaching load is 4.5 courses per year. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in or related to any area of STS.
