SHOT MEMBER PRESENTS: book publication and Exhibit
Julie Wosk, Professor Emerita, SUNY Maritime College, is happy to announce the publication of her new book Artificial Women: Sex Dolls, Robot Caregivers, and More Facsimile Females (Indiana University Press). AI-enhanced simulated females are becoming ever more lifelike as the virtual vies with the real. They are already having a dramatic impact on social relationships, on our views of women, and our ideas about what it means to be human. The book features examples from robotics, films, television, novels and plays, and art. .
Dr. Wosk also announces her exhibit “Imaging Women in the Space Age” on view at the New York Hall of Science in Queens from March-May 27, 2024 and the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA from June-September 2024.
