Édison Renato Silva received his DSc in Production Engineering from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and has worked at Production Engineering School at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro State (UNIRIO). His dissertation examined, from an epistemological point of view, the growing distance between the result of academic activities and the needs of practice in the field of Management since the beginning of the 20th Century. His research interests include methods for systematic literature reviews, philosophy of engineering and history of engineering. His current research projects in the field of history of engineering involve producing a short documentary about Professor Pedro Silva Telles, the most accomplished historian of engineering in Brazil, and a book about the history of Production Engineering in Brazil. He has also published a book (in Portuguese) with Professor Domício Proença Jr. about methods for systematic literature reviews.
